Normally when we think of body odour we think of sweat, however perspiration by itself does not smell it is bacteria and other sources that are the culprits.

Anaerobic bacteria can live on the body when the body is not oxygenated enough and this may be the primary cause of body odour.

Your body constantly strives to rid you body of toxins and waste products. If you have imbalances in your metabolism this will result in stronger odours.

Toxins accumilate in the body through our homes, the air we breath and the food we eat. Our livers and kidneys and intestines often struggle to dispose of these toxins. The liver, kidneys and intestines can become clogged up once you established a regular routine emptying your bowels a good body cleanse would be a step towards better health.

You could also consider vitamin and mineral deficencies . Deficencies in magnesium and zinc may cause body odours. Even some vegetarians and  prolific meat eaters will have a distinctive body odour that can be offensive. As a general rule vegetarians have less body odour.

We all have sweat glands under our arms and in the groin area which secrete a substance that is not related to the food you eat.  Tense moments can cause a surge in sex hormones.  These hormones contain carbohydrates, lipids and protien which get attacked quickly by bacteria the result being an adour.

Other underlying causes of body odour are medication, low blood sugar, diabeties, parasites, metabolic dysfunction and the menopause.

Lifestyle and dietry changes can get your sweating under control.

Make sure you  your hang up your washcloth or loofah in a well ventilated area so that it dries quickly otherwise bacteria will grow there as well.

You can use a deodorant soap, these are very affective at removing bacteria moreso than usual soaps.

Remember synthetic fabrics will not allow the skin to breath and encourage the build up of bacterias, wash clothes frequently.

Wear aternate shoes so the pair you wear today get the opportunity to completely dry of any foot perspisration.

These are some simple changes you can make to your diet  that can go a long way in changing how your body smells.

Red meats like beef are hard to digest, onions, garlic, spicies coffee and alcohol can all lead to body odour.

Most of us are aware when our armpits have an unpleasant odour but we all have our own particular body odour that is hard to dectect because we live with it everyday. If you have a friend or family member who will tell you the truth and you know you can trust them, then ask them to do a ”smell test”. I highly recommend doing this before you  start eliminating foods from your diet.

If you are a prolific meat eater you can do no harm cutting back to only one meal per day that includes red meat.

ist1_9218215-perspiration    Symptoms like excessive sweating can be an indication of underlying health problems so going to your doctor or a health care professional is a good idea.  The menopause or peri-menopausal women often find they will sweat for no apparent reason they do not even have to feel hot.

If you are on medication that could be the cause, caffine is another trigger that can start of sweating.  I know several people who get hot flushes, bouts of sweating after drinking the recently popular energy shots. Reduce your caffine and keep away from the energy shots and energy drinks that are packed with caffine.

ist1_12234944-cigarette-butts-in-ashtray-and-a-cup-of-coffee    Tobacco is a major cause of body adour. It comes out through your lungs and every part of the body including the skin which is a major organ. Tobacco and all the chemicals in cigarettes probably mixes with other elements in the bodies chemistry to create an odour. It can take a few weeks for the body to stop having this odour after you have stopped smoking.

Here are some supplements that you can include in you dietry changes.

Chlorophly; taken in liquid or tablet form, usually one to two tablets is enough.  Chlorophly taken at each meal has been know to act as a great deodoriser.

Magnesium; is known as an essential mineral and it is recomended that you take between 200 and 500 mg per day. You might have to experiment a bit with the dosage to find the right one for your body.

High potency vitamin B (50 mg or higher) when combined with magnesium can help with reducing certain odours by reducing secretions that cause the odour. Make sure you are getting 100 mg of PABA and 100mg of B6

Zinc and magnesium also work well together. This is another combination that has been shown to reduce body odour. It is recommended you take between 30 – 50mg.  Beware though too much zinc can interfer with the bodies ability to absorb other essential trace minerals like copper. Generaly you will find you do not need to take more than  15mg per day  this is very efficient at reducing sweaty feet.
