Food Born Illnesses:Prevention For Healthy Living
Food Born Illnesses:Prevention For Healthy Living
You can help boost your immune system by eating healthy foods.
But have you ever thought that the foods themselves can be making you sick?
Food borne illnesses are a great threat to our bodies, they can cause food poisoning and a variety of more dangerous diseases.
Luckily there are a few simple tips you can follow to prevent food borne illnesses. By following these simple tips when handling, preparing and storing food you can keep you and your family safe.
First and foremost you should take special attention of the temperatures of your foods.
Invest in a food thermometer to check temperatures of meats. This way you can check meat is being reached its proper temperature inside. Some meats like beef can be served rare safely, but correct and proper temperature is essential.
By bringing all the meat up to the correct temperature you ensure all bacterias that may be growing on the meat is killed. Ground meats like burgers, meat loafs, patties should never be eaten rare. Bacterias can be found on the inside and outside of meats or loaf meats and you are at risk if you do not cook the meat for a long enough period of time to kill the bacterias.
After the food is cooked it is still necessary to monitor temperatures. To put it simply keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot. Cold foods need to be kept at below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and hot foods above 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Bacterias are able to freely grow in the range between this.
When placing hot foods that have cooled in the refrigerator, do so no more than 2 hours after and when thawing foods place them in a bowl or tray in the refrigerator. Do not allow blood from defrosting meats to drip in the fridge or onto other food items.
Cross contamination in the prime culprit when it comes to food borne illnesses. Cross contamination happens when bacteria is moved from one dish to another. It happens easily when chopping boards are dirty, dishes not washed and rinsed properly and
using the same utensils in food preparation. For example a knife to cut raw chicken then being used unwashed to cut food. Some of the bacteria from the raw chicken has probably remained on the knife.
Keep uncooked and cooked foods separately wrapped in the fridge. Keep the fridge clean by regular cleaning and throwing away items that have passed their time.
Always wash fruit and if at all possible soak them in water with a little lemon juice, lime or vinegar.
A clean environment will go a long way to preventing food borne illnesses. So make sure you keep work spaces and tools clean when ever you cook.
Every time you wash raw food make sure you wash your hands with antibacterial or disinfectant soap and rinse your hands with hot water.
Making sure you eat healthy foods is one huge step towards building your immune system and getting a fitter and healthier body, but so is keeping your food safe. So do not over look these steps the next time your preparing your foods.
Cleanse your body regularly to reduce belly fat and rid your body of toxins.

Proteins Affects on Blood Sugar
Proteins Affects on Blood Sugar
Quality protein and fiber have pretty much the same affect on blood sugar levels. By combining protein in your snacks and meals you can have positive affects on your blood sugar. When you combine carbohydrates and proteins you slow down the digestion of carbohydrates in your body. This slowing down stops blood sugar from spiking as a result of having to much carbohydrates in your system.
However this does not mean you should eat more protein than recommended in one meal. Doing so will bring further problems down the road. If you are diabetic skipping protein from your diet is not a good idea. Diabetic vegetarians need to find a good quality protein source that can be consumed on a regular basis.
There are good quality proteins that are available other than meat:
Beans and other members of the legume family. There are a variety of ways to prepare beans from hot chili to salads and and they are an excellent source of both fibre and protein.
Fish sources: be aware that large fish contain high levels of mercury and should only be eaten once a week.
Nuts although high in fats and most people fear them, are a very good source of heart healthy fatty acids. Eaten in moderation they are an excellent source of protein. Read nutrition labels as each nut will vary.
Seeds again another excellent source of protein seeds like pumpkin, flax and sunflower seeds.
Tofu another great source of protein that can be prepared in many ways including sweet and savoury.
If you do enjoy meat then when making your protein choices go for lean cuts. Even though protein has health benefits as with all things too
much will cancel out the benefits and turn it into a health risk.
You should only eat high fat meats or heavily processed meats on the odd occasion and eat a wide variety of proteins as possible.

What Causes Belly Fat?
Before we can start tackling your belly fat we need to look at why it’s there and why you are having a problem getting rid of the bulge.
The first and obvious thing is improper eating and lack of exercise. But it does not stop there.
Here are a few reason why you might be finding it difficult dealing with belly fat.
Hormonal changes like The Menopause
After the menopause fat stores itself in carious places in a woman’s body often times around the tummy.
Genetic make up
The common body types are apple and pear shaped. If you are pear shaped you tend to store weight in your lower body whereas an apple shaped person stores weight in their mid section. Both of these body shapes or types will store more fat in the stomach areas.
Improper Digestion
We cannot rule out stress here but I deal with that next.
There could be several gastro intestinal problems that leave the belly gassy and bloated due to improper digestion
Often when people complain of a fat belly it is due to excessive gas causing bloating.
Stress
Stress with in self does not cause belly fat. However stress causes the liver to release a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol causes the liver to produce sugar that he body does not have any need for. And guess what that leaves the body hungry. Result you eat more as the body begins to feel hungrier. And guess where those extra calories end up? Around your belly of course where else?
Start Now Reduce belly fat today
Slow Metabolism
Metabolism tends to slow down as we get older. Basically we don’t burn as many calories as fast or as easily as we did when younger. Again these extra calories end up being stored around the belly and stomach area.
Posture.
Although this one is pretty obvious most people never think of it. Poor posture can give you the “pot belly” look . Try standing side ways on to a mirror. Hunch over and look at how your belly looks. Now stand erect. See the difference? Not only do you look longer leaner and at least 1.5 inches taller but your belly looks better too.
Late Night Eating
Again another obvious one and one that is difficult to stick to with long working hours and the added demands of family and friends.
To keep control of belly fat do avoid eating 3 hours before going to bed. You need to give your digestive system at least that amount of time to digest the food or you run the risk of storing that meal around your waist. If you must eat before bedtime try a banana or a handful of almonds.
Examine Your Causes
As I mentioned in the beginning the primary causes of belly fat is improper diet and lack of exercise. With the dangers of belly fat being highlighted everyday we all need to be mindful no matter what our size. Because there are many varying factors why there is extra fat around your belly it is important to investigate why, particularly if you tend to gain more weight in that part of your body more than anywhere else.

Symptoms of Parasites: What Are The Syndromes Of Parasitic Infections?
Symptoms of Parasites: What Are The Syndromes Of Parasitic Infections?
Before I discuss the Symptoms of Parasites or the symptoms of parasitic infection, let me just give you a brief introduction on parasites. As you must know, parasites are organisms that live off other organisms by sucking out their life juices. Parasites can live inside or with another mother organism.
The bodies of human beings can accommodate 100 plus different types of parasites. Some of the places which can get affected by parasitic invasion are upper arms, skin, muscles, liver, genitals, hands, feet, respiratory tract, digestive tract, diaphragm, chest, buttocks, blood and the abdomen.
You won’t believe it perhaps but according to a study done by WHO, 25% of the global population suffers from chronic intestinal infections due to parasitic attacks.
Commonest Symptoms of Parasites
Diarrhea
In diarrhea, frequent watery stools occur as a result of chloride and sodium loss caused by specific parasites like protozoa (primarily). As you can understand, it is the parasite causing an infection that leads to diarrhea.
Irritable bowel syndrome
Sometimes the walls of the intestinal cells are coated by parasites or the parasites cause inflammation or irritation of these cells. The result is that you tend to suffer from different types of GI symptoms. The body is unable to properly absorb fatty substances, especially vital nutrients. As a result you get steatorrhea or feces infected with excess far and bulky stools.
