Reduce Belly Fat-Now Using the Food Pyramid In a Diabetic Diet.
Everyone was taught the food pyramid in grade school and all the different foods that make it up. It is recommended for a healthy diet to eat the many foods from the groups. As we get older we often forget the basic rules but if you have been diagnosed with diabetes then it will be time to take a refresher course on the different foods groups.
There is a food pyramid specifically for diabetics. Known as the Diabetics Food Pyramid this program is divided into 6 groups like the standard version. But they do differ in this way, The diabetic pyramid groups together foods that have the same carbohydrate content where as the standard version does so by food groups alone.
By grouping similar or the same carbohydrate groups choices are made easier because foods that have a negative impact are easily recognised.
Some of the differences you will see is that cheese is grouped with meat instead of dairy as a protein and as a protein the portion size should be the size equivalent to other proteins in the same food group.
Starch vegetables such as proteins and corn in the bread and grains section because they will act in a similar manner by raising the blood sugar levels.
You will also see a difference in swerving sizes especially with in bread and grains.
Diabetics must monitor their carbohydrate intake at each meal and if has been found eating smaller portions is a good way to manage this.
